Wireless charging and iPhones have had an interesting relationship. While Android phones had wireless charging very early on, it took Apple years to adopt regular Qi wireless charging with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus in 2017. At the time, it only charged at 7.5 watts, and wasn’t very efficient. Then Magsafe and the Qi2 standard came along recently and allow for 15W charging of iPhones. But now we get Qi2.2, which is faster, cooler and more efficient, and Kuxiu was the first to bring it to us. Here’s what you should know about what’s new X40 Turbo and Qi2.2 charging.
I’ve been a big fan of Kuxiu 3-in-1 chargers for years. They are well made, reliable and offer unbeatable value. For example, if you don’t care about charging speed, don’t worry X55 3 in 1 charger Still great at Under $30! But again, this charges at just 7.5W, and we’re here for something much faster. Here are the specifications of the new brand X40 Turbo:
- 25W fast charging for Qi2.2 supported devices
- Charges at 15W for non-Qi2.2 supported devices
- Fast charges Apple watch and Airpods
- 25% smaller and thinner than the original X40 stand
- The temperature never exceeds 40°C, to stay cool and efficient
- Comes with a braided USB-C to USB-C cable, a 45W power brick, and a hard carrying case
This 3-in-1 wireless charger checks every box you need. It’s rated to charge the iPhone 16 Pro from 0 to 80% in just under an hour, and the fact that it comes with a 45W charging brick is amazing. But what exactly is Qi2.2?

Explaining old versus new wireless charging
With all these new charging standards, marketing jargon, and charging methods, I wanted to briefly explain the difference so you’re aware when it comes to purchasing the right charger. There are three main forms of wireless charging you should know about:
- Regular Qi wireless charging: All iPhones from iPhone 8 onwards support this type of charging. This is our regular and garden variety wireless charging mat. It charges at 7.5W and does not require the charger to have magnets for Qi certification. This still works fine for overnight charging, but it takes hours to fully charge a recent iPhone.
- Qi2 wireless charging: Two things separate this from regular Qi charging. First, charging is increased to 15W from 7.5W. Second, magnets are integrated into the charger itself for alignment and mounting purposes. While Qi2 and MagSafe are essentially the same on paper, MagSafe was a standard created by Apple, while Qi2 was a global standard that all manufacturers could support. But both Qi2 and Magsafe produce the same result: 15W magnetic charging.
- Qi2.2 wireless charging: This is the latest innovation in wireless charging. It brings the charging speed to 25W and also requires temperatures to remain below 40°C for certification. It still has the magnet alignment
So, in short, Qi2.2 finally makes wireless charging make sense for everyday use, and X40 Turbo It is one of the first chargers to support it.

Practical experience
I have been tested X40 TurboAnd it was nothing but positive. As I mentioned, I’ve used a few of the Kuxiu chargers, and the first one that caught my eye was the X40 Turbo It was his size. It was smaller, thinner and lighter than its predecessors. Even the carrying case that comes with it is smaller, making it extremely portable. It is CNC aluminum so it looks very premium.
Of course, all I wanted to test was the charging speed and make sure it didn’t overheat. I used my iPhone 16 Pro, which had 10% battery charge, to run some tests. First, from a speed perspective, I consistently got 24W charging speeds. It would sometimes go up to 25W but then go back to 24W, which is perfectly fine. The fact that I get 24W continuous charging wirelessly is great. After about 30 minutes, I touched the charger and it was a little warm but not hot at all. This is to be expected when you’re charging wirelessly that fast and I was glad it wasn’t hot to the touch. Then finally, it went from 10% to 80% in less than 50 minutes, which is unheard of when charging an iPhone wirelessly. Overall, I’m very happy with this new Qi2.2 charger and it now has a permanent place on my desk and in my travel bag. But which iPhones support this?

Which iPhones support Qi2.2?
In terms of support, only the iPhone 16 lineup supports 25W Qi2.2 charging. The X40 Turbo will still charge older iPhones but at 15W. Then the new iPhone 17 range will also fully support 25W Qi2.2 charging.
