Apple announces AppleCare One multi-device bundle with simplified pricing

AppleCare takes a page from the Apple One suite of services and offers its own bundle. AppleCare One is a new way to pay for additional warranty status for all your Apple products, and the window to add coverage is more generous than ever.

What is AppleCare One?

Apple Care One It is a new option for Apple’s warranty subscription service. In the US, AppleCare One costs $19.99 per month and covers up to three products. Additional devices can be added for an additional $5.99 per month.

For example, you can protect your iPhone, iPad, and Mac for $19.99 per month, then add your Apple Watch as a fourth product for $5.99 per month. This provides AppleCare+ coverage for all four products for $25.98 per month.

AppleCare One is like AppleCare+ but for multiple devices. AppleCare+ adds accidental damage coverage and extends the standard warranty from one year to the subscription term.

Theft and loss coverage, previously only available for iPhone, extends to Apple Watch and iPad with AppleCare One.

As always, service fees and deductibles are significantly reduced compared to the cost of out-of-warranty repairs and replacements. Priority support and battery replacement when needed are included at no additional cost.

AppleCare One has a more flexible grace period. Most devices can be added within four years of purchase. A condition check may be needed.

Apple has put a lot of work in recent years to make AppleCare+ coverage more accessible and affordable for customers.

From extending the grace period for adding coverage to offering monthly and annual subscription options, Apple has maintained a strong push for more comprehensive, extended warranty plans.

AppleCare One builds on the work that began when AppleCare coverage was upgraded to the top tier of the Settings app on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Apple is starting to easily show the warranty status of each of your devices. AppleCare One now lets you pay one fee for the same level of coverage on different products. You don’t have to think about when to buy the product or if you add the warranty in time.

Apple’s challenge includes overcoming subscription fatigue and disclosing the monthly warranty cost for comprehensive device coverage. This is where bundle savings help both Apple and customers.

This and the much longer grace period to add a product in good condition within four years of purchase show that Apple is serious about growing its AppleCare business.

One area where the package falls short is family engagement. AppleCare One only allows you to group products that use the same Apple Account. This means you can’t group three iPhones with different Apple accounts in use, even if they’re connected through Apple’s Family Sharing feature.

However, one benefit of linking AppleCare One to an Apple Account is that warranty coverage automatically rolls over between device upgrades and trade-ins.
