If you were hoping Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro models would change their actual screen sizes, you can officially temper your expectations. But that doesn’t mean the 2026 lineup won’t bring major changes to the look of the front of the iPhone. Here’s what might come.
New leak from Digital chat station on Weibo Today it says that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will stick to the same display sizes as the current iPhone 16 Pro series: around 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively.
That’s in line with what we also expect for this year’s iPhone 17 Pro models, meaning Apple may stick with the same screen dimensions for at least three consecutive generations.
But while the sizes may remain the same, two display-related changes have reportedly been made to the iPhone 18 Pro line:
First, the Face ID located at the bottom of the screen
This shift has been rumored for years, and multiple sources (including show analyst Ross Young and a detailed report from… Information) They have already pointed to 2026 as the year Apple will make this move. Today’s leak supports that.
This means that unless Apple decides to keep the dynamic pill-shaped island for design reasons only, this will be the first time there will be no visible area for Face ID hardware on the screen. Of course, Apple can still choose to show the dynamic island UI when needed, but let it completely disappear the rest of the time.
Second: HIAA (Hole Active Area)
Apple is also expected to reduce the size of the visible screen to just one hole for the front camera, using what is known as HIAA, or hole-in-the-wall active area technology.
Here are additional interesting details from InformationPrevious report: The camera hole itself could move towards the top-left corner of the screen (as many Android phones have done in the past), making this the first iPhone with an asymmetric front-facing camera placement.
Are you excited about the idea of an iPhone without the permanent Dynamic Island cutout? How do you feel about Apple moving the front camera to the top left corner of the screen? Let us know what it is in the comments.
