Prehistoric Planet premieres five new Ice Age episodes, here’s how to watch on Apple TV

The animal history documentary series Prehistoric Planet returns today on Apple TV with a new Ice Age installment. If you aren’t a subscriber, now is a great time with a 50% off Black Friday deal available right now.

With the series hailing from the makers of the recent live action Lion King remake, Prehistoric Planet uses the latest CGI techniques to depict photorealistic sequences of long-extinct creatures …

The show is cleverly presented as if these beasts are still roaming the Earth today, in the style of a modern-day nature docuseries. It is fittingly produced by the BBC Studios Natural History Unit.

The current Ice Age is technically referred to as the Pleistocene era, which the series depicts using cutting-edge rendering technology backed by the latest in scientific understanding. It follows species as they try and survive in the punishingly-cold climates, as well as portray what might have happened during ‘The Big Melt’.

The original Prehistoric Planet season was narrated by David Attenborough. The new Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age is narrated by Tom Hiddleston, who also was the voice of Apple’s nature docuseries Earthsounds. The Prehistoric Planet musical score is by Hanz Zimmer.

All five of the new Ice Age episodes are available to stream right now, featuring mammoths, saber-toothed tigers, elephant birds, ancient relatives of the kangaroo, and much more.
